A Nugget of Wisdom from a Fool

Michigan dog sled races. It was freezing out!

I am a young woman and have many things to learn. One rut I have noticed pretty much every married woman get into is getting frustrated with where their husband is at whether it be spiritually, or like character wise.

Aunty Riah holding... one of the two??

"I just wish he would do ____ more."
"Why can't my husband be more like ______?"
"He is just so inconsiderate!"

Naked Nerds

I have unfortunately fallen into this discusting, ljoy-sucking trap these past two weeks. Call it what you want; put a list of excuses together:
  • I just see the potential in him and want him to succeed
  • If I don't "lovingly point things out" he may never change

I'm sure there are more that I have used to justify my actions. But the Lord has given me a fresh view on this...

"Cassie, do you really want to spend the rest of your life not content in who your husband is? Do you really want to be the wife that always reminds him of his short comings? Or do you want to rejoice in your husband?"

Helping Mom with Laundry

So how do I do this ??!?
  1. Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthymeditate on these things."
  2. Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God"
I mean think about it... I am no better then he is. There are things about me that may not measure up to what he expects. Also, my sin is just as gross as his sin. God has grace, mercy and love toward me even though I let Him down SO SO SO SO MUCH! How much more can i show grace and love to my husband??

Laundry was a lot of work...

So I am going to choose to look at the good things about my husband. And when I have a problem, I will take it up to my Father in Heaven, but I will not be slow to thank Him also for the amazing man he has given me. I am going to enjoy every minute of my marriage that I can. I don't want to be an old, grouchy, bitter woman... or even a 20 year old grouchy woman. :)

  1. Cassie, oh how easy it is to put down our husbands and/or try to be their own "personal Holy Spirit"... I'm so glad God has opened your eyes to realizing how important it is to look at the GOOD in our husbands! What a blessing and an encouragement!
(And I love the cute pictures of your girls too!)
