Humility

Here are some definitions of the word "humble":

  • Not proud of arrogant; modest
  • Having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservience
  • Low in rank, importance, status, quality
  • To destroy the independence, power, or will of
  • To make meek
  • Conscious of one's failings

Here are the Biblical benefits and promises to those who are humble toward God:

God hears the humble and prepares their hearts:

Psalms 10:17 "Lord, you have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear..."

God saves the humble:

Psalms 18:27 "For You will save the humble people, but will bring down hauty looks."

Guidance and Wisdom:

Psalms 25:9 "The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way."

Proverbs 11:2 "When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom."
Salvation:
Psalms 149:4 "For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautiful the humble with salvation."

God will dwells with humble and revives their spirit:
Isaiah 57:15 " For thus says the High an Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, 'I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."
What areas in your life do you need to be humble before the Lord?
Where do you rely on your own strength and not the Lord's?
Where do you think you have it "all together"?

Finances?
Marriage?
Child Training?
Friendships?
A Specific Sin?

Romans 12:16 "Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion."

My Lord and Savior,
I pray that I would always stay humble before You!
I know that I am nothing without You.
I want You to guide me.
I want You to teach me.
I love You and want to walk humbly with You.
