Have you noticed that our family has an Israeli flag flying in front our home? (We also have a BIGGER American flag).
Have you seen the Mezuzah grace our door way?
Have you celebrated the 8 nights of Hanukkah with us before?
Have you clicked through our photos from our many trips to God's country?
I want to be clear:
We are NOT part of this big Hebrew Roots Movement.
We also do NOT believe that the church is a replacement for the Nation of Israel.
We believe Israel is Israel.
We are not Jewish (that we know of); we are Gentiles.
Our Messiah's name was Yeshua (Jesus) and He was Jewish.
We do not believe we have to keep the law of Moses.
We believe we have been saved through grace by faith in Jesus Christ.
So why do we love Israel and the Jewish people and culture so much?
Our Savior was Jewish!
The Jews are STILL God's chosen people.
Everything He's promised them has come to pass and it's that history, and those prophecies that make it easy for us to be believers in Jesus today!
Why do you celebrate Christmas?
Is it the tradition of remembering Jesus' birth?
What about Easter?
To remember His death and resurrection?
This is the same reason we celebrate Passover, Purim, and the like.
We aren't anything special.
We may be a little weird.
But we love Jesus.
We love His Bible.
We eat pork.
We take a Sabbath.
We don't fast for Yom Kippur.
We light candles on Hannukah.
We set up a Christmas tree.
We don't celebrate Halloween.
You're not obligated to do any of this.
However, there is one thing that IS necessary.
That you confess your sin, repent, and believe in Jesus Christ.
He is the only way to salvation.
This is the one thing I pray my blog puts forth.
A relationship with Jesus Christ that makes you SURE you'll go to heaven when you die.
Everything else is just fun and working that relationship out.
Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
